Fall/Winter 2005
Woman's Evening Dress
In 1985, Donna Karan started her own business with a very personal inspiration: she wanted to make clothes she would wear. Fusing tailoring with sportswear, she designed a system of easy-to-wear, versatile, and sophisticated separates so that working women like herself could look professional yet feminine. Karan continues to make clothes for modern women who are sexy and strong, such as this gown, from her Manhattan Rush collection. The fluid satin is deftly draped and caught by bands of knit to cling to the torso, and the circle-cut skirt features a separate floating panel and a slit up the front.
