Woman's Dress

In the mid-1980s, the young Marc Jacobs became known for his irreverent take on hippie style; his grunge look of the early 1990s brought similar acclaim and notoriety. Jacobs has continued to refuse to play it safe. Often frankly appropriating past looks, he translates them to become the essence of the present. Jacobs presented this dress in a collection whose multilayered references recalled turn-of-the-last-century American prairie styles but utilized a mix of shine-laced luxury fabrics. This one-shouldered dress incorporates disparate elements with metallic glints, including a heathered knit bodice, long wrapped waist sash, and skirt with shimmering, leaf-shaped appliqués.
