Kosuke Kato

Japanese, born 1988

Katō Kōsuke employs the traditional methods of Japanese sword makers. He heats a steel ingot to a very high temperature and then repeatedly hammers it as the metal folds in on itself. Next he adds slivers of copper alloy and rehammers the surface to create intricate patterns.
