Tureen in the Form of a Duck

Image 1 of 31 / 3

When Delft potters tried to imitate Chinese figurines of animals and birds from the Kangxi period (1662-1722), they were most successful in representing known domestic animals. This tureen was likely one of a pair, each resting on a separate tray. The Dutch often used such pairs of small tureens as table decorations.
