Pair of Vases
Nanri Kajū IIJapanese, 1818 - 1880
In his official report on Japanese ceramics, General Hector Tyndale wrote of this pair of vases, “The moulding is at times of surprising clearness and ingenuity, and the tours de force, so to speak, in potting are very remarkable; as, for example, a pair of large cylindrical vases surrounded by a complete case of open-work of oviform outline, even and true in execution.”
