Plate from the Service Beau bleu vues hors d'Europe (Beautiful Blue Views outside Europe)
The service to which this plate belongs was purchased jointly by the duc d'Angoulême and his father, who was then comte d'Artois and later King Charles X. The inscription under the painted scene reads (translated): Hut and banana trees on the Island of Cracatou, and an inscription on the reverse reads (translated): Near Java.
