Configuration with Two Dangerous Points

Configuration with Two Dangerous Points consists of six gently rounded, rhyming, organic forms on a board with a rectangular frame. Four wooden elements project into the viewer’s space, one of them punctured by a pair of holes. A visual tension between solid and void, and between flatness and protrusion, is inherent to the genre of relief sculpture; it is accentuated here by the contrast of the four protruding forms painted white (and the shadows they throw) and two similarly shaped black areas that are painted directly on the background. The title connects the image to the idea of things that come in twos, but it does not provide a literal explanation of the motif in this work.
