Tapestry showing Psyche Displaying Her Treasures to Her Sisters

This tapestry is part of the first complete set of "The Story of Psyche" weavings produced by the Beauvais tapestry factory. Its elegant and sensuous style is a superb example of the fashionable compositions designed for the factory by François Boucher from the mid-1730s to the 1750s. The other four tapestries in the series are also in the Museum's collection. The second set can still be seen in the throne room of the royal palace in Stockholm, Sweden.
