Artist/maker unknownThis painting represents the Seven Star Buddha—the Buddha of Flaming Abundant Brightness—surrounded by seven standing Buddhas who are the cosmic representation of the seven stars of the Big Dipper. A particular feature of this work is that the seven Buddhas are identified by inscriptions written in the Korean language Hangeul on the borders of their robes.
