The Domino Room
Rockwell KentAmerican, 1882 - 1971
Under the moniker “Hogarth Jr.,” Kent created some of his most striking illustrations for Vanity Fair magazine to accompany text written by his friend George S. Chappell. In this illustration for Chappell’s poem The Domino Room, the artist captures the energy and excitement of a Manhattan nightclub. He tucked in a depiction of himself in the lower left corner of the image, where he both participates in the revelry and critiques it with a satirical pen.
