The shape of the kundika, a Buddhist ritual water vessel, originally derives from an Indian prototype. This type of container traveled to China and then to Korea, where potters later used the distinctive shape in producing ceramics. The kundika is filled through the hinged spout on the side, and water is sprinkled out of the top.
