"Kotobuki" Shelves
One of a series that “translates” Japanese writing into three-dimensional furniture, Kotobuki is a set of brilliantly designed shelves by Sinya Okayama. The shape is an abstraction of the pictogram for the word kotobuki (meaning “tributes” or “longevity”) that would be recognizable to a Japanese audience. Sleek and modern, this piece was created using a traditional lacquering technique on wood.
