Writing Desk

The Wedgwood plaque adorning this writing desk represents the late eighteenth-century French fascination with all things English. Dominique Daguerre, a well-known Parisian dealer and importer of Wedgwood medallions, was well acquainted with the fashion and may have commissioned this desk and provided the German furniture-maker Adam Weisweiler with the English-made plaque.
