It was published on the occasion of Picasso and Things: The Still Lifes of Picasso, a major exhibition that was organized by the Cleveland Museum of Art in conjunction with the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Réunion des Musées Nationaux. A chronology of the events in his life is also included.
