Artwork Information

Dragon Jar (Cobalt)

Dragon jars were immensely popular among the Korean ruling class during the Joseon dynasty (1392–1910). This example is painted with cobalt, a luxury pigment imported from the Middle East that creates a beautiful blue color when fired.
