The John G. Johnson Collection

Digital scholarly publication exploring the John G. Johnson collection of European Art. Produced in celebration of the centennial of Johnson’s remarkable gift to the city in 1917 of 1,279 paintings, 51 sculptures and more than 150 other works of art.

This publication features five main interpretive essays, a timeline, and scholarly entries on nearly seventy of the more than 1,300 objects in the John G. Johnson Collection. All entries include scholarly apparatus consisting of provenance, exhibition history, and published references.
