Join P. Gabrielle Foreman in A Nation of Artists to learn about how Black visual and literary arts intersect and inspire each other. Explore these overlapping cultural arenas as we consider art objects that include clay vessels made by an enslaved master potter and poet as well as paintings that depict famous writers and writing more than a century later. In this "Tour for 250", "Black Writing and Writers in American Art”, Foreman will facilitate a lively discussion about how print appears in African American art as we stop to spend time with material objects and visual subjects whose value and mastery have been acclaimed and celebrated; and with those that, for a time, had been diminished or dismissed.
